Motion Graphics

Philosophy

Understanding the edi helps the Digital Compositor place each shot in context. And the Compositor needs to grasp the production's goal for every single shot in every scene where VFX are needed. The focus ranges from the broader scene context all the way down to the last pixel of each shot — frame by frame.

Since any shot can be endlessly magical but production time is finite, one of the coolest things about VFX is how it pushes you to find custom solutions to specific problems — which is pure engineering, under tight deadlines. I’m also into designing processes that automate particular tasks the production needs done.

But above all, what really drives me is the journey — the creative collaboration of a whole bunch of artists working together to make that journey, that film, look as visually incredible as it can.
